Joe Nierenberg grew up in New York City and graduated in 1979 from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He prepared for law school by majoring in history and studying political science. He moved to California to study law at the University of San Diego, where he obtained his law degree in 1982.
While in law school, he became passionate about representing those injured by the wrongdoing of others.
